Hot hot hot....
4 day weekend. Got the grass cut, got my tomato plants weeded and staked and saw the corn and beans are coming up. Its like a hub of hell out there daytime, so i spent a large portion inside watching a few movies. Only one of note was ON THE BEACH which was on TCM this afternoon. Its one of my all time favorites, though watching it never fails to sadden me. It also kind of struck me a little harder today.Seeing Gregory Peck keeping his sanity knowing his wife and kids are dead and seeing Ava Gardener fall in love with him and he with her, knowing they will both die is powerful stuff. The final scene as she watches his submarine sailing home can put a lump in any throat. I suppose it really thumped me today because I know what it is to love and lose the person you love....
