A little unease, new kids, a chuckle, and Thanksgiving...
Well, I was off all week til today and it was always fun. Monday I went to the dentist and got a filling replaced. Then grabbed the last of the victuals needed for Thanksgiving, including 3 qts of oysters. Yummy! Tuesday I stopped at the Insane French Womans to clear the last bit of business, I got her to give me the big book'o recipes which had been collected over the years. Many of them were given by my extended family and I needed to make sure they stayed with it. I told her I would copy the whole book and she could have it back which relieved her. Since I left the waterheater blew up and now the dryer was dead. Both we sitting in the driveway because my brother in law had his truck repo'd and was now driving frenchies truck. LOL. He even drove by as we talked, looked and didnt stop. She wasnt pleased since he hasnt been by at all except to show her a deer he shot ( and not give her any meat from). She told me the bitch was having TG and invited her to eat and also mentioned the bitch hadnt mentioned our divorce. Then she started telling me the bitch had been trying to help her get social security ( key word TRYING, she couldnt pour piss out of a boot) and showed me the paperwork. It said since she hadnt earned enough credits, she'd been denied, all these years of working under the table finally catching up. Of course she told them she worked on military bases in France and Germany prior to getting married and she says she paid SS, but I havent seen any evidence of it. SS sent her the denial letter and said they would check to see if she were eligible for any benefits from those countries verison of SS. I dont think shes going to end up with anything, but she begged me to check into it since the bitch was clueless as always. I have today, half heartedly and it looks like shes screwed, but I cant feel sorry for her. The icing on the cake is, she isnt even a US citizen. She never bothered to renew her green card or apply for citizenship after she came her with the bitches dad, they were divorced 7 years later so, near as I can tell, shes here illegally. I doubt they will deport her, but even if she has legal recourse to apply, I dont think she can pass the test and it will cost her money. Bet she wishes now her daughter wasnt such a whore. Wed I had to go on a rescue and pick up 2 more kids. Note DO NOT TRAVEL THE DAY BEFORE A HOLIDAY. I mentioned in an earlier post about them, seem to be settling in nicely. Wed night the kids came over for a big oyster fry and it was kick ass. We all ate til we almost popped. Next morning Booch and I got up, cleaned weasels and started the vittles. We had turkey, mashed taters and gravy, oyster stuffin and regular stuffin, cranberry sauce, candied sweet taters, rolls and pumpkin and pecan pie as well as coconut custard pie. We all ate way too much and sat around watching football which was a double whammy of fun. The Cowboys mugged the Raiders and my mighty 'Horns rolled over A&M ( sorry darlin crashing_angel, just wasnt their year again). After the game, we moved the weasels from the living room into my model room because we now have 4 big cages and they were taking up a big chunk of the living room. I plan on getting my model room back eventually. LOL. Today was a perfect day, crisp and windy, really Fall-like. If I were off I would have built a fire to enjoy in the fireplace. Now, on to Xmas....yuck.... Current Mood: accomplished | | Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 | | 4:49 pm |
Weasels we have known and loved...
Taking a quick break from doing. I got the place cleaned up after going to fetch 2 more kids this morning ( hint: try NOT to travel the day before turkey day) The original kids will be here in a few hours to spend the night and have an oyster fry. Anyway, I was looking at the new additions and it struck me how after awhile theres always a weasel to remind you of another. I posted that Daddys Lil Weasel got killed which was awful for me, but a few weeks later I picked up another rescue, a little white female with bits of black in her fur and a dot on her nose like Taffy had. We named her Pepper and she may not look like Taffy, but her mannerisms are almost identicle. She comes out and runs around, then comes to see me. She'll let me pick her up and say hello, and sniffs my fingers to see if I was eating anything intersting, then she wants down to go play, exactly like Taffy always did. And when she plays with everyone else its nearly identicle to Taffy. Well, in todays batch, we got one who looks like a girl we already have named Misty, I call her Mr Mister. LOL. Anyway this one looks just like her but is alot more outgoing. And her fellow adoptee looks nearly identicle to Stromboli. He even has the sway back manner of walking Stromboli had. But hes much more outgoing as well. Its so funny how we take in rescues and they each have a different personality, but alot of them seem to mirror traits in others we have or have lost. We need to come up with names for these two, it'll hit me in the next day or so. They seem very happy, the lady who had them said it broke her heart but she just couldnt give them the time they need and she wnated them to have a good home, which they will. She was feeding them cat food and both are a bit thin, which is usual since cat food has no where near the protein they need. They went right to eating the Marhall ferret food which is good. In fact the Jr Stromboli was grabbing the cup when I refilled his bowl, they ate like they were starving. Tonight we'll put a new cage in service and even things out so each cage has 6 or so in it. Until another rescue beckons.... Current Mood: lazy | | Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 | | 9:08 pm |
Weasel Way, up and running....
Well, I finally had a chance to make the start of a web site for the ferret rescue. the link: http://mysite.verizon.net/web23yv2/The logo was done by my very good friend and fellow monster kid brother Joe Busam and he did a terrific job. The site is still under construction, so bear with me. I'll be doing hot or miss when I can for awhile yet. Tomorrow I have to run up to Dale City and get 2 more kids that the owner can no longer care for. Ferret.com had a big sale last week with free shipping and I bit the bullet and got another ferret nation cage, making 4 now. Since we're out of room in the living room for this cage, we're going to put all 4 in the model room. It will take up some space, but I can still work on my models in my spare time (HA!). We'll be doing some shuffling of living quarters and evening the cages up a bit. Tomorrow is weasel fetching, then clean clean cleaning in prep for the kids coming over tomorrow night for an oyster fry and then spending the night for Turkey Day. hatin on Mel....
Totally random, but last night I caught the tail end of one of my favorite movies on TV, THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, which got me thinking. Mel Gibson is a douchbag. I wasnt one of those who went nuts over him for MAD MAX, he didnt strike me as being much of an actor. But I followed him and he got better. I started liking him. And I think he reached his pinnacle in YOLD. Afterwards he began a slow but perceptible slide until he became the lunatic douche he is today. You could sort of see it coming. He started believing he was hot shit. The LEATHAL WEAPONS were ok, but far from his best. By the time his massive ego and religious stupidity made him make his piece of shit PASSION OF CHRIST, I was hoping he'd keel over dead. Reading the bullshit Mel and Jim Caveweasel shoveled out about "miracles" on the set made me want to vomit. And then he decides to make up his own revisionist tale with APOCALYPTO, the man is not his fucking stupid, but a total ego-maniac. Personally I wish he'd just go away and stop trying to be relevant. Hes been exposed as an anti-smite, a hypocrite, an adulterer and all around cum bubble, but he has no sense of shame so he still rattles around trying to be something. Fuck him, he can go to hell... the state of the onion....
Its been a busy week or so. The good news, Tommy Spazz told me that because bumblenuts is too stupid to give an articulate answer on WHY the shifts should change, he doesnt see them changing "..anytime soon, if EVER". Which means no hassles on dayshift more than already occur. Bumblenuts is digging himself more holes, I filed more grievences on him yesterday about messing up OT pay I was owed. Thats not going to play well with the powers that be. The new kitten is doing good. I call her Scabby because she had a few cuts on her which are healing. Booch wants to call her BooBoo which is fine, I'll just call her Scabby.LOL. The only problem is, being so little and not having a cat to teach her, she attacks her food. She ends up with canned food all over her because she stands IN the bowl and wallows in it. Quite a mess to clean up from her and the tub. Shes staying in the big whirlpool tub until we can let her roam about after Thanksgiving most likely. She thinks shes a weasel apparently as well. When shes out in the bathroom, she wanders over and chows on the food we have out for Gandhi and the Old Man. And when she sees them she rubs them and purrs. The Old Man has no issues but she freaks Gandhi out, he puffs all up and flees. And on the weasel front, we rescued anotehr ferret this past week. We named him Earl. Hes a light colored bandit weasel and so far seems to be fitting in. A lady wants us to take 2 more this coming week, and thus the hordes grow. Ferret.com had a sale on so I ordered 2 big bags of food, a big bag of litter and a new cage like the others. Its huge and can hold about 10 ferrets. That makes 4 cages now. We have them in the living room but if we put the 4th one up, they will most likely be moved into my hobby room since theres more room. The day approachs when we will be at capacity at Weasel Way, but for now, we still continue to take in those huddled masses yearning to eeeek free. Booch went back up home to visit the relations yesterday and will return late tonight. She told me on the phone being up there is like sucking out her soul, the only reason she goes is to see her neices. She said the whole town is soul crushing. Her oldest neice wants to move down here with us and I told Booch shes welcome. Kassandra is 15, so shes nearly old enough to do so and as I mentioned to Booch, staying in Huntington, she'll end up at a dead end like all the rest of the people up there. At least if she came down here, she could get a job and have hope of a future. Its awful to see a place like that where people have just given up all hope. After tomorrow I'm off until Friday so maybe I can get a few things done around the Highcienda. The kids will be over for Thanksgiving which will be nice. And after that begins the fucked up rush to X-Mas.... Current Mood: relaxed | | Saturday, November 14th, 2009 | | 5:03 pm |
Neighbors...
Well, when I moved into the Highcienda back in Febuary, the neighbors to my right were an old couple and they moved about 3 weeks after I moved it. According to the locals who stopped by Hollywoods yardsale this summer, they moved into an assisted living home. The house was empty all summer then a few weeks ago it popped up for sale. Barb, my realtor found out it had been forclosed and was a short sale. The price was about 125k$ and the house is a wee bit smaller than mine but has about an acre more in land and its nicely landscaped and has a paved driveway. The for sale sign was up about 2 weeks then disappeared and the night before last I saw lights and a vehicle over there. I figured someone bought it. Then today I saw a truck and 2 people working on the fence so I went and introduced myself. Turns out they were fixing the fence for the lady who bought the place. She apparently had retired from Giant or Safeway or some grocery and according to these friends of her, she was looking for a job. Which made me think how the HELL do youi buy a house without a job? I know with the mortgage rate and what she paid her monthly mortgage will be at least 900-1000$ and the house is all electric with a heat pump for heat so her electric bill is going to run over 200$ at least. Anyway the clincher was when the guy told me she rides a motorcycle and so do her friends. From the look of this guy I knew she was going to be at least in her 50s and I was right. When I went to work I saw the entire crew over helping her move in ( she'll be living alone) and went over to introduce myself. It was just as I feared, a bunch of past middle aged biker types, you had the leather sleevless vests, santa beards and bandannas on the guys, lots of tattoos and plenty of " WOOOOOOOOOOO!"ing and grab ass. Some dick lit a string of firecrackers and tossed them in the yard because he could I guess. And the woman looked rode hard and put up wet too many times. She was definately an old bikers bitch. So now I can look forward to weekends full of HAWHAWHAW WOOOOOOOOO! PAAARRRTTYYY!!! ect from these clowns. Of course this is the only neighbor I can see though only slightly when the leaves are off. I try not to be judgemental, but I can see this is going to be annoying. The saving grace is, once the costs start piling up, she might not be able to keep things going and will have to move. I was really liking the peace and quiet too. Well, time will tell... Current Mood: disappointed | | Friday, November 13th, 2009 | | 9:04 pm |
Friday night lights....
Well I made it through my first part of dayshift ok. Back on 4-12 for 4 now. I was contemplating life, and I reckon I'm pretty much satisfied. Things have settled into a routine again. For a long time, right after the bitch left and even up until I moved things were all topsy turvey. Even when i moved into the Highcienda I still couldnt seem to get a routine. Breaking my foot gave me alot of time to settle down and get straight. Now I get up, clean the weasels and let them play, have a spot of lunch watch a bit of TV and check the mail and off to work. Come home, do a few minor things maybe watch a little more TV shower and then snooze. On my days off its interspaced with doing what needs be done around the place. monotonous? Maybe a little, but rote isnt too bad, you always know whats coming. The holidays are approaching and this will be the first rewal holiday at the Highcienda. The kids will be over to have turkey on Thanksgiving and its weird but cool to think I get to do the vittles and decide what we have. It means having to cook it too, although Booch will do alot, but I dont really mind. I guess its been a whirlwind year, and before long it will BE a year since I've been settled. I'm kinda old to be thinking about it as a beginning, but it is and its not so bad... Current Mood: accomplished | | Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 | | 2:16 pm |
Awful movie review... WARNING SPOILERS
Last night Booch brought home a bootleg copy of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. I still cant fathom how these things get bootlegged so damned fast, but sometimes its a good thing. A guy at work loaned it to her. Its a movie I was already leery of simply because the asshats have made such a fuss over it. Thats never a good sign for me. Its something I almost definately wouldnt have gone to see but waited til it hit HBO. But it was ridiculous, and I'll give a synopsis so you can see why.... WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!! SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT!!! Ok so the whole premise is, this chick has this "entity" which has sort of followed her around since she was 8. It whispers to her in her sleep and other things that scare her silly and we also learn SUPPOSEDLY it burned her childhood home down. He idiot BF who is a total jerkoff decides hes going to start filming EVERYTHING in an attempt to "document" this, so he gets this vid camera which hes eitehr carrying around or has watching everything they do including while they sleep. The banter is annoying at first because nothing really happens and then after a few mights we see the bedroom door move back and forth a few times. Wow, scary. They call this ghost hunter type guy who immediately tells them he feels the presence telling him to get out and that its not a ghost, its a demon and he gives them a demonologists name and number. So THEN the chucklehead tells the GF nothings really happening dont call the guy he'll keep documenting blah blah blah. He gets Ouija board after the GF makes him promise not to ( why is it that Ouija boards seem to be the only method for bringing demons and such in contact with people? What did they do before they were invented?) the GF freaks and walks out, he follows and we see the board on cam the thing moves and then a small fire starts on it. They come back and numbnuts says he can "see some sort of message" on the board which we never see or have explained. Meanwhile at night the GF gets up and stands for a few hours staring at the dickweed sleeping, she also wanders outside in a sort of trance and of course their are noises, shadows and the door moves and the blannkets on the bed move. Eventually they cant sleep get freaked out and the dipshit decides to do some research on the internet and finds some womans case who had EXACTLY THE SAME THING. Its complete with a "smuggled film made by the priests who attempted an exorcism" of the woman ( as if an exorcism wasnt busy enough, lets make a bootleg film!) who appears to have undegone a "transformation" in possesion and has a really poor attempt at the makeup from THE EXORCIST. The film shows her jerking around a bit and then to everyones horror ( yawn) she CHEWS HER OWN ARM OFF AND DIES OF BLOOD LOSS! on camera. Guess the priests were too busy filming to use a tourniquet. Now the GF is totally freaked out and starts pissing and moaning. The dickweed gets made and tell the demonn "fuck you" and the ghost guy is called, comes back and tells them he HAS to leave RIGHT NOW the thing is pushing him but he'll get help which of course he never does. The domonologist is conviently now out of the country. On the next night "something" grabs the GF and drags her screaming downstairs and the dipshit follows and brings her back. Much angst and whining, they see what looks like a bite on her. Dipshit tells her they need to LEAVE NOW, even though all along its mentioned the deom will simply follow her. She gets all trancelike and tells dipshit she needs to stay and he does. So they go to sleep again. The GF wakes up, stands and stares at dipshit for an hour or so in a trance, goes downstairs, screams, dipshit runs to investigate, scuffling, then GF comes back in a trance bloody with a butcher knife and sits rocking by the bed for about 18 hours on cam. The alarm goes off, the phone rings, someone knocks, comes in and we assume finds dipshit dead, screams and flees, then alter teh cops show up, knock come in and yell at GF who snaps to, gets up to ask where dipshit is walks towards the cops with the knife, is told to drop it and doesnt and gets shot. End of movie. And the insulting thing is this is supposed to be real, like the BLAIR WITCH. I dont know if I was insulted more by them thinking anyone would believe this or the awfullness of the movie. And what kind of camera did dipshit get that never runs the battery down and seems to have tapes that last for weeks? If people really were so scared by this they left the theaters, all I can say is we have some mighty pathetic folks going to movies. If you want a good chuckle, by all means watch it when it comes on DVD or HBO, but dont pay amy real money, it just encourages these boobs to make dreck like this. "NOW look what you did!"
Well I suppose I was overdue for weirdness. SO, last night whilst I was outside, I stepped behind the shrubbery by the building to water it. ( which makes me think of the amusing story of a French anarchist put on trial during the early part of the century. The prosecutor said accusingly ' You were seen talking to an anarchist behind a lamp post!' to which he replied, 'perhaps your honor can tell me please, where is "behind a lamp post"?'....lol but I digress) As I stepped behind where it was dark, my foot stepped lightly on something and I heard a noise like one of those rubber squeaky toys for dogs. I was like WTF? and stepped back. Using my foot I found the object and moved it out in the light. And what was before my eyes? A tiny black kitten. Fortuitously I had barely stepped on him causing alarm but no damage. He was a wee lil tyke barely had his eyes open, so I took him in and wrapped him in a shirt and put him in a box until I got off. The strange part is, theres no way he WALKED there, hes much too young. And there were no OTHER kittens nearby ( I looked) nor a mammy cat of any sort. When I got him home, Booch examined him and he has no wounds but he does have a few places that look as though perhaps something had him in its mouth. Thus, either I disturbed mammy transporting him, which I doubt, or creature or creatures unknown was preparing to have him for a snack and my arrival spoiled their foul deed. Either way he is now the newest resident of the Highcienda, just another critter I live to serve. And hes very young, he cant even eat yet so Booch is feeding him by dropper until he grows a bit. I figure he'll end up thinking he's a weasel once hes old enough to interact with them. Yes, once more my sense of fair play has gotten me into another fine mess... Almost Halloween
Wow, this year it really came suddenly. I dont know why, but most years I have plenty of time to get psyched up but this year it didnt seem like almost Halloween until Tuesday or so. Anyway, as mentioned, I'm stuck at work tomorrow which will suck but I'm more bummed I havent had time to savor things. And now next thing you know it will be the holidays. In other news, we lost Stromboli last week. He never did "thrive" since we got him, he did ok, but never seemed to put on weight or look good. Oh he ate fine, like a pig infact til the end. The last few days, he was pooping really nasty, a slurry with blood in it. Hes done that before though so we passed it off as him being upset at something. He was a very sensitive weasel. From what we gleaned from hbis former owner, he was elderly, set in his ways, and easily upset. I think he missed her ( his owner) and never stopped grieving. Anyway Booch had finished his Dracula cape up a few days before and we got a few pictures of him wearing it. When he passed, we buried him in his cape just like Lugosi was. He had the best life we could give him for the 5 or 6 months he lived with us, and I'm sure hes better off now he isnt grieving. Got the new heat & A/C system in and its nice, just set the thermostat to what temp you want and it will heat/cool as needed. Also has the capability to be programmed to set temps at where you want them all week, night and day. While I was off last weekend I perfected the art of making homemade strombolis. We had them 3 nights in a row and they got better each time. The final one looked more like a pie stuffed to bursting with ricotta, pepperoni, italian sausage and mozzerella. As I promised, my foot has now healed 99.9% and I can Astaire myself almost as well as I ever could. And finally, I got my copy of my divorce papers in the mail today, as of the 23rd, I am rid of that disgusting bitch forever. She can rot in hell now and has no ties to me and mine anymore... the weekend that was...
...my first 4 day weekend after going back, and it was most welcome. Got a few more things done. Got some stuff cleaned up in the house, fixed weasel areas that were messy, got vittles, made some kick your ass strombolis, cut up firewood and stacked it and got the garden unfenced and ready to turn under. Also got to see my mighty 'Horns romp Mizzou's ass. And congrats to them Aggies for taking Mike "Dick" Leech and his merry band of butt pirates to a good old fashioned Texas ass whupping. Still have a ton of stuff to do and now have a 10 day stretch before anotehr 4 day weekend. Oh, also got the Highcienda put into both mine AND Duck Dicks name, thus should I get my ticket punched, its all his without legal entanglement. Countdown to Halloween now and even if I do have to work, I'll still enjoy it vicariously. Duckus is doing the High tradition at one of their friends house, I'd love to be there to help scare the kids, but work beckons. The year is on an express elevator to Hell now, winding down quick, the holidays just ahead... Current Mood: accomplished | | Sunday, October 18th, 2009 | | 5:40 pm |
weasels ripped my... eye?
Had a slight mishap last night. I got home and Gandhi came out from under the bed to say hi and play. I put him on the bed which he loves. Being a waterbed he reels around and it gets him all hyper so he starts bouncing and turning flips. He will also grab your hands or feet and nip you when he gets all crazy. He was wound up pretty good and I leaned over to scoop him up and pet him when he launched himself at me and nipped me right in my good eye. He only got the outside corner of the eyelid, but he scratched the eyeball a wee bit which hurt like hell and made my eyelid swell a little. The outside of my eyeball is all red too. It was a bit off putting when he did it, I would never have expected that. He didnt mean it I know, he was just playing but now I have to be extra careful with them, no need to lose my last good eye that way... Day 2...and a weasel update
Made it through the first day without killing, now on to day 2. At least its a Saturday. Its another raw, chilly drizzly Fall day and trust me I did NOT want to come to work. I suppose 2 months off can spoil anyone. I'll survive, but its a tough slog getting used to work again. On a brighter note, the celebrated Red River Shootout went off today ( and all my Texas friends will know the sizzle of this...lol) and once more the mighty 'Horns slapped down Cryin Bob Stoops and his choke-lahomo bunghole sooners. It was a sloppy game and by no means a sure thing, but as Al Davis said Just win baby. Now avoid any unpleasant stumbles and its hello Rose Bowl come January to play for the big one. Now as promised, a weasel update. After Daddys Lil Weasels accidental death, we figured we needed to extend the paw of help again, so we took in 2 more from a girl who said she was pregnant, sick and couldnt care for them. A white male we named Stubby because he has a shorter tail, and a female bandit weasel we named Chilli for no good reason except I made a pot that day. Shes almost black and both are full of energy and playful. Stubby went in with the Originals and we put Chilli into the Nervous Hospital because she was smaller. They settled in very well. Then about a month ago, we took in 2 small females from a lady who had rescued them but couldnt care for them. One is white with a hint of black throughout her coat and a black dot on her nose I named Pepper, and shes slowly helping me overcome Daddys Lil Weasels passing. Shes alot like her in many ways. The other was a typical smaller bandit type weasel. When we got her Duck Dick and Hollywood came over for supper and DD brough a small blowup beach ball type thing. He was playing with this one and she went spazz and attacked the ball making these weird noises. It was funny, she nipped him hard but in play. He called her Psycho weasel but we decided to name her Charli ( after Manson..lol) Unfortunately Charli was already pretty ill when we got her and went downhill fast. She only made it about 2 weeks. Shortly after we got those 2, we decided to put Old Man Weasel in the bedroom as a free range companion to Gandhi. It totally changed him. Where he acted like a geriatric, hes now all full of energy and spends alot of time running and laughing, even annoying Gandhi when he wants to play at night. They've reached an understanding and even sleep together but Gandhi seems unsure how to take the old guy. Its nice to see him having a good time though. So for now, we have 22 and holding, but at anytime we may end up rescueing another fuzzy in need. The same old shit....
Well, here I am, back at work. Seems like nothings changed. Seeing bumble for 5 minutes made me want to crush his skull worse than ever. He's like a social disease, nobody wants to be around him. At least I have a month of 4-12 so I wont see him. I must say sitting around the Highcienda beat this all to hell. Its a perfect Fall day, chilly, cluody and drizzly, I am glad to see the season change. I have decided to seriously see whats available to move into job-wise to get away from this place. I cant deal with the stupidity without getting a shotgun and decorating walls with skull and brains. The downside is most anythign will be dayshift which I despise, but I'm going to see what I can do. SOmewhere there has to be a better work environment than this. waning days...
Its been just over 2 months since I broke my foot. I cant say it was fun, but I did enjoy the time off. In fact, its spoiled me to the point I really dont want to go back to work. Not that theres an option. Most of it is because I am going back having to deal with fucknut and a big bru-ha-ha as to if the schedule changes and grievences against fucknut for various stupidity before and during my time off. I really used to like my job, but now its just a place to go and get paid. I never thought I'd get bored with what I do, but its just going through the motions now. And even though the money will be great and I need it, I am not looking forward to working OT again. Still, I did manage to get some things I needed to done around here. Kept up the yard mowing, managed to trim, got more firewood split and stacked, took down the nearly falling over front half of the whacking hut. All this in just the past 2 weeks when I could finally walk around. Fall is here and thats good, cuts down on yard work, but it means I have to plan for next year and still have a few items to get done like plowing a bigger area for a garden and spreading shit on it prior to next Spring. Next week I'm having an all new furnace/heatpump/ac installed, so that will save money on the heating and cooling and I have a year to go, no payments or interest. Plus I can claim about 3k$ in tax credits for making things more energy efficient. And dont forget X-Mas is right around the corner. So in summation, things aint too bad, but they certainly could be better. I'll look at the bright side. Current Mood: contemplative | | Sunday, October 4th, 2009 | | 12:03 pm |
Giving back something....maybe...
I've been mulling over an idea now for a few months. Its a no-brainer, really, in view of life here at the Highcienda these days. I've been thinking of making the ferret rescue official. We're doing it in every other way as it is now. Anyway, I'm considering filing for tax exempt status as a non-profit charity. The name which has been in my head is Weasel Way Ferret Rescue. I figure that way, I could accept donations, put up a web site and give an official face to whats already in progress. I talked to my monster kid brother Joe Busam via email ( he is an incredible artist) about making a logo. I thought of a ferret dressed as the statue of liberty saying give me your poor, your tired, your hungry masses, yearning to eeek free...LOL. I know it sounds goofy, but what the hell. We're do fine caring for the kids, but everyday I see more and more of the lil guys who are being given away to who knows where or just left outside to fend for themselves. Of course they cant and end up dead. I know I cant save them all, but I want to try to help all I can.... Current Mood: determined | | Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 | | 11:52 pm |
Vacations end...
Well, due to a misreading of the rules, apparently my vacation is about over. But there IS a twist. I assumed I was being paid under federal workmans comp, not so. WHile its a PART of WC, what I'm getting is called COP ( continuation of pay). The BAD news is, I can only get it for 45 calender days, not, as I first thought 45 WORK days. Thus by that light, I ran out of COP on Sept 22. Bumblenuts sent me an email saying I would need to use sick leave if I wished to continue, and said I should contact the doctor and HR about light duty. Originally, TOmmy SPazz said there WAS no light duty, but a check with HR he found there was, but it wasnt specified. So he sent bumble an email telling him to figure out what would be light duty, knowing there really isnt anything that can be construed as that at the plant. So now, I have to see the doc Monday for my appointment, then I can see what his prognosis is. I have enough sick leave to carry me through until around the 13th when i wanted to go back, but it will use most if not all of my leave. Now the twist, while looking into workmans comp regs, I found I can retain a lawyer and fight to be paid for any lost wages or use of my sick time, since the accident was not my fault and happened at work. There are a limited number who handle fed cases, but I will check into this. Not only would I like getting money and possibly my leave back, I'd like to hang bumbles ass for not making sure I was trained and letting me use defective equipment. If the shark is any good at all, I should be able to really rattle them. Also, I notice alot of pain, possibly arthritic in nature in both the broken foot as well as my right leg and ankle. SO I will also see what if any remedy can be found for this pain as well.I want to get everything I can since they are trying to screw me. Tommy Spazz recommended I show up at work, sit on my ass and wait til bumble figured out what would constitute light duty. As he said, sit there with your thumb up your ass and get paid. Its a thought... Current Mood: contemplative | | Sunday, September 20th, 2009 | | 12:41 am |
The eyes of Texas....
How very appropriate that my beloved Longhorns would hang an ass whuppin on that homo Mike Leach and the Texas Tech assclowns on talk like a pirate day. Leach is quite enamoured of pirates, which strikes me as a bit odd in a grown man and football coach, but what can you expect from anyone coaching a shithole like Tech? I was able to actually walk today, albeit with some difficulty. I didnt have to use the aircast at all. I was able to unlace my shoe total and wear it most of the day. I can walk after a fashion without aid keeping about half my weight on my heel. I did use my cane ( which is actually a sword cane) when I went to grab a sub today, but all my indoor walking was accomplished without cane or crutches. I suspect in afew days I should have my leg muscle back about normal and the tendons in my foot lossened up to the point I will be able to progress to walking normally soon. Of course since the doc told me no weight on it until this Tuesday when I go back for a checkup, OFFICIALLY, I have had no weight on it. And I will still be very stiff from lack of movement. I should think I wont be ready to return to work until about Oct 13th, which means ( damn the luck) I'll miss Octobers dayshifts. I confess it will be nice to get out and about regularly, but this being "retired" has some advantages... Current Mood: chipper | | Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 | | 11:55 pm |
Rescue and loss....
Today we picked up 2 more neglected ferrets. The lady had posted them to get rid of them because she was pregnant and couldnt care for them. They were dirty and a bit thin, but they seemed very happy when we got them home. We cleaned them up and let them play and they immediately felt welcome here at Weasel Way and were accepted by the tribe. One is a white male we named Stubby because he has a very short tail. The females name is pending, these things usually hit us, she is a classic bandit weasel. Then the worst thing that could ever happen did. While we had some of them out playing, Stubby ended up caught under the recliner and we had to flip it forward to free him. Unfortunately, we didnt see Taffy, aka Daddys Lil Weasel dart under as we set the recliner back down and she ended up being crushed under it. We didnt notice until we missed her when it was time to put them up and we couldnt find her. It was like someone just ripping my heart out of me. I love them all, but she was my little girl, she was the first weasel I got and I loved her like my own child. I feel absolutely terrible that shes gone but even worse that she died in an accident like that. I'd give anything to have her back again... mending
Cast came off yesterday. YAY! Doc was very impressed the bones are basically healed after 3 and a half weeks. I am now in the inflatable cast which is great.I can shower again. No weight on it for another 2 and a half weeks because he wants the new bone growth to solidify. My calf muscle is like a bag of suet and my achilles is like a piano wire. I'm also still painful when I move the ankle any way but up or down, so I cant help wondering if muscle/tendons werent damaged. I should still be off work until early October. So another chapter in my continued abuse of my body is heading towards a happy ending. By Halloween, I plan to be as normal as ever.My wrist finally healed to so I'm pretty spry on my crutches. Booch is working at Bloom in the seafoos department. She says it will do un til she gets something else,I think she likes it at least a little bit if for no other reason than that shes working again.
